Name: Spider-Gwen
Date completed: December 18 2014
Base figure: Marvel Legends Spider-Girl
Paints used: Acryla Gouache
Description: Reading through Spider-verse, I really loved the concept of Gwen Stacy becoming Spider-Woman. This figure is based on that design. This was a difficult figure to do because I’ve never dealt with fabric before and I knew the hood would be difficult. I ended up cutting the hood out of muslin and painting it up in layers before attaching it with super glue.
Overall Impressions: I like how it turned out. It’s not my best work, and I think the hood detracts from the figure a bit. In the future I might find a better way of dealing with fabrics, perhaps I’ll find fabric specific paints instead of acrylic paints so that the fabric can remain flexible.
