Description: Man-Spider is Spider-man after his mutation disease takes over completely. This was a very ambitious project to take on. Taking 3 Ex Nihilo figures, I had to figure out how to get 6 arms on the figure without them getting in the way of each other. The head, hands, and feet for this project were all sculpted in Sculptris. They were printed on a Form 2 3D printer. The body, arms, and legs all had additional sculpting by hand using apoxie sculpt.
Overall Impressions: I’m very, very happy with how this figure came out. It took me over 2 months because I kept putting it aside. I was afraid of this one. I was worried it wasn’t going to come out well and I’d have wasted a lot of time, effort, and money on it. Since I took a lot of time and moved slow, I did things right. All the joints are able to move with zero paint rub. The paint came out looking how I wanted. The figure looks great. If I were to pick out one thing that bugs me, it would be the teeth. I had sculpted teeth in 3D but made them too small. They all broke off in post processing. I had to resculpt them with apoxie sculpt and they don’t look as nice as the 3D version. Just something I need to keep in mind in the future; how large things will be post printing.
